Privacy Policy
Welcome to geoTagged. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our mobile application.
Our Privacy Commitment
geoTagged is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to external servers. All your information remains on your device under your complete control.
Information We Collect
geoTagged accesses the following information solely to provide its core functionality:
- Location Data: GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) are captured when you take a photo. This data is used exclusively to geotag your photos and is stored locally on your device.
- Camera Access: We access your device's camera to capture photos. Photos are stored locally on your device.
- Address Information: When you capture a photo, we convert GPS coordinates to a human-readable address using OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. Only coordinates are sent to this service - no personal information is transmitted.
How We Use Your Information
The information accessed by geoTagged is used solely for the following purposes:
- Overlaying location information (address, coordinates, timestamp) onto your captured photos
- Converting GPS coordinates to readable street addresses
- Saving geotagged photos to your device's gallery
- Enabling you to share photos through your preferred applications
Data Storage
All data generated by geoTagged is stored locally on your device:
- Captured photos with geotag overlays are saved to your device's photo gallery
- Thumbnail previews are stored in the app's local storage
- User preferences (such as company name settings) are stored locally using your device's secure storage
π No External Servers
We do not maintain any external databases or servers that store your personal information or photos. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
Data Sharing
geoTagged does not share your personal data with any third parties. The only external communication occurs when:
- Address Lookup: GPS coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim API to retrieve street addresses. This is an anonymous request containing only latitude and longitude values. Please refer to OpenStreetMap's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.
- User-Initiated Sharing: When you choose to share a photo, it is sent through your selected application (email, messaging, social media, etc.). This sharing is entirely under your control.
Permissions Required
geoTagged requires the following permissions to function:
Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device, security is maintained through your device's built-in security features (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We recommend:
- Keeping your device's operating system updated
- Using a secure screen lock
- Being mindful when sharing geotagged photos, as they contain location information
Children's Privacy
geoTagged does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age. The app does not require account creation or personal data entry beyond optional company name branding.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your information:
- Access: All your photos and data are accessible directly on your device
- Deletion: You can delete any photos or clear app data through your device settings
- Portability: Your photos are standard image files that can be transferred or backed up as you wish
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Third-Party Services
geoTagged uses the following third-party service:
πΊοΈ OpenStreetMap Nominatim
